Applying to the Graduate Program
Here’s How to Apply
The process of applying for admission to graduate school at Penn State requires the following application materials, some of which are submitted to The Graduate School (items 1. and 2. below), and others that should be sent directly to this graduate program (items 3. through 7.):
- An official GRADUATE SCHOOL APPLICATION (Submitted electronically).
- Application fee.
- Official transcripts (two (2) copies).
- Application for Visa Document (International Students Only)
- Standardized test scores (as required by the graduate program).
- Three letters of recommendation.
- Statement of purpose.

If you do not pay by credit card, please download a copy of the Application Fee Form that can be accessed from the Electronic Application, and mail along with your payment of the non-refundable application fee to:

- DO NOT SEND CASH.
- Make checks payable to: The Pennsylvania State University.
- International money orders or checks must be drawn on a U.S. bank.
- Your canceled check serves as your receipt.
Please complete the following ADDITIONAL REQUIRED FORMS (in Adobe Acrobat format):
- Two official transcripts from all institutions of higher education attended, both undergraduate and graduate (Item 3 in the list of application materials). To obtain a Transcript Request Form, click one of the following: View and Print or Type On and Print.
- International applicants must submit official or attested university records, with certified translations if the records are not in English. Notarized copies are not sufficient.
- Standardized test scores as required.
- Application for Visa Document (International Students Only)
- Three letters of recommendation.
- Statement of purpose.
